The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) presents First Course, bringing together 12 artists from our region to provide a taste of their talent and artistic practice. The artwork featured in this exhibition, while vastly different in medium and theme, all have one thing in common: Virginia MOCA commissioned each of these artists to create new artwork in collaboration with a subject matter expert for an exhibition that will be on view at Virginia MOCA February 6 – June 6, 2021.
First Course is both a primer and an expansion upon the upcoming exhibition at Virginia MOCA. Both exhibitions and the related educational programming will encourage members of our community to explore the possibilities of the intersection of food and art and creativity.
Organized by The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) and curated by Alison Byrne, Deputy Director, Exhibitions and Education and Heather Hakimzadeh, Curator. MOCA would like to thank each of the participating artists and The Runnymede Corporation for their help in realizing this exhibition.

MOCA SATELLITE GALLERY
Open Monday-Friday 9am-6pm and Saturday from 10am-4pm. There is no charge for admission. MOCA has partnered with The Runnymede Corporation to open a permanent satellite gallery in the lobby of their Virginia Beach headquarters at 600 22nd Street, Pavilion II, a short walk from the museum. MOCA Satellite Gallery at Towne Pavilion II has over 80 combined feet of wall space spanning the lobby and hallways of the first floor.
By order of the Governor, masks are required to visit the Satellite Gallery.
