For one week in May, MOCA’s artist-in-residence, Steve Prince collaborated with community individuals through a series of workshops toward a common goal: creating a thirty-foot woodblock print titled, Gestalt: The Whole to the Part. Over 150 participants of all ages worked under Prince’s guidance on both the design and printmaking process. The final woodcut was printed with an industrial steamroller for the public to witness, then assembled and printed to form a collective print exhibition centered on the Hampton Roads community.
Sincere thanks to Steve Prince and all the workshop participants for their assistance in realizing this exhibition.
Artist Steve Prince's one week residency with MOCA is presented in part by The Capital Group Companies Charitable Foundation and Acoustical Sheetmetal, Inc.
