Exploring Iconography

March-September 2015

ALSO DISPLAYED IN THE VIBE CREATIVE DISTRICT AT THE OCEANFRONT LIBRARY

A collaborative exhibition by students and teachers from Tallwood High School, Green Run Collegiate and Bayside High School inspired by MOCA’s exhibition, Ryan McGinness: Studio Visit.

Art students from the three Virginia Beach high schools came together to collaborate on a community project based on the concept of Iconography. Students visited MOCA in February to explore the work of renowned artist Ryan McGinness, a Virginia Beach native. Using McGinness's ideology and processes as an inspiration, students created collaborative and personal artworks expressing their ideas about the concept of community and identity through iconography. These artworks reveal visual messages about themselves and our Virginia Beach Community.

Special thanks to Erika Hitchcock, Anne Baker and Tricia Campbell.
