Christi Harris: Consumed

March 19 - June 28, 2014
christilynnharris.com/home.html
Christi Harris, painter and Assistant Professor of Art at Christopher Newport University, creates symbols of American food and consumer culture through beautifully wrought paintings and drawings. Though seemingly different, the colorful frosting still lifes, supermarket landscapes and cash register portraits symbolize attempts to appease unfulfilled desires. On some level we know that these objects cannot fill our emotional needs. Visually seductive and alluring, Harris’ works respond to those same desires. We see them and we want more.

This exhibition is organized by The Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA). MOCA would like to thank Christi Harris and The Runnymede Corporation for their help in realizing this exhibition.
