Animated Minds is a series of animated shorts that document the experience of people who live with mental illness. The goal is to dispel prejudices surrounding these types of illness and to shed light on the experience to a broader public.
The director, Andy Glynne, is a trained clinical psychologist. He identified people who live with a variety of mental illnesses and willing to give testimony on their experience. The resulting stories are harrowing, poignant and altogether human. The editing process eliminated content which would distress the storytellers. Then, illustrators, animators, and musicians gave stories a rich visual aural narrative and soundscape. The films offer just a small peek into the often turbulent and dark inner worlds of psychosis. However, they have the potential to give allow those who don't suffer greater insight and compassion to those who do.
The film presentation will be screened on an ongoing basis in MOCA’s Price Auditorium and is included with Museum admission.
